The ongoing turmoil in the Middle East has caused continuous fluctuations in international oil prices, leading to increased attention on alternative energy sources. Nuclear-related stocks are showing an upward trend. Especially on the 18th, several nuclear-related stocks on the Korea Exchange performed notably.

On that day, Daewoo Engineering’s stock price surged by 22.79% compared to the previous trading day, closing at 14,870 won. During the opening, the increase reached as high as 26.75%, hitting a 52-week high. Additionally, stocks such as Hyundai Engineering, GS Engineering, Doosan Energy, and Korea Electric Power Technology collectively rose, attracting market attention. Analysts believe this phenomenon is driven by the instability of international oil prices caused by the Middle East conflict, which has fueled expectations for reliable alternative energy sources.

Meanwhile, the recent passage of the Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Management Special Act by the State Council further boosted market expectations. The law emphasizes the importance of investment management in Korea-U.S. economic cooperation, highlighting investment stability and long-term growth potential, thereby stimulating buying demand. As a result, nuclear power, as a sustainable alternative to reduce dependence on oil and natural gas, has once again gained attention.

Additionally, the decline in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange has also supported this rally. WTI crude for April delivery fell by 3.84%, closing at $92.52 per barrel, indicating market volatility. This trend is likely to continue supporting the strong performance of stocks related to nuclear energy.

It is expected that such trends will influence the expansion of the alternative energy market and the development of radioactive application technologies, prompting the energy sector to explore diversified transformative possibilities.
