On the 24th, Tokyo Electric Power Company announced in a press release that the discharge of nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant will conclude on the day of the discharge in the fiscal year 2025 (from April 2025 to March 2026), with a total discharge of approximately 55,000 tons of nuclear contaminated water. The press release stated that the seven discharges of nuclear contaminated water in the fiscal year 2025 have all been completed, totaling 55,011 tons, with a total radioactive tritium amount of about 160 trillion becquerels. The company plans to discharge nuclear contaminated water eight times in the fiscal year 2026, totaling approximately 62,400 tons. The Japanese side ignored the strong doubts and opposition from the international community and unilaterally forced the discharge of nuclear contaminated water into the sea from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in August 2023. So far, a total of 18 discharges of nuclear contaminated water have been completed, with a discharge volume of approximately 141,000 tons. (Xinhua News Agency)
