Abstract generation in progress

On March 16, 2026, and March 17, 2026, Haikou Meilan International Airport opened two international cargo routes in succession—Ho Chi Minh City to Haikou and a round-trip service between Haikou and Kuala Lumpur—driving the number of international cargo flights between Haikou Meilan International Airport and Southeast Asia to increase from 4 flights per week to 13 flights per week. This further strengthens the aviation logistics network between Hainan Free Trade Port and Southeast Asia, providing solid support for Hainan Free Trade Port to deepen regional economic and trade cooperation and advance high-level opening up to the outside world. It is understood that both of the two international cargo routes launched this time are operated by Boeing 737-800F all-cargo aircraft, with a maximum payload of up to 22 tons for each one-way trip. The difference is that the Ho Chi Minh City to Haikou route is operated by JD Airlines, with a planned schedule of 3 flights per week. The inbound cargo is mainly fruits, textiles, and general-trade bulk goods. This route’s cargo can take advantage of the efficient customs clearance process at Meilan Airport, entering local consumer markets quickly after arrival. (CCTV News)
