Trump: Iran Has Met Most of 15 Demands

On March 30, local time Sunday, Trump stated to reporters aboard Air Force One that Iran has “satisfied” most of the 15 ceasefire demands previously presented by the U.S. to Tehran, although it remains unclear whether substantive negotiations are actually taking place. He remarked, “They have met most of our points. Why wouldn’t they? We will put forth a few additional demands.” However, he declined to specify what concessions Iran had made. Publicly, Iran has clearly rejected the list of 15 ceasefire conditions and has instead proposed its own five preconditions, which include complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. This weekend, officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey held meetings in an attempt to find a way out of the conflict, but there are currently no signs that the talks have made substantial progress. The Pakistani Foreign Minister stated after meeting with his counterparts from various countries, “Both Iran and the U.S. have expressed trust in Pakistan and are willing for Pakistan to host subsequent negotiations.” However, neither side has indicated that they are prepared for direct dialogue.
