Trump: Iran has agreed to most of the 15 ceasefire demands.

ChainCatcher message: Trump told reporters on Sunday, local time, aboard Air Force One in the United States that Iran has “met” most of the 15 ceasefire demands the U.S. previously presented to Tehran, although it is still unclear whether the two sides are actually carrying out substantive negotiations.

He said, “They’ve met most of our points. Why wouldn’t they? We’re going to bring up a few other demands.” But he refused to disclose which specific concessions Iran has made. Publicly, Iran has clearly rejected a list of the 15 ceasefire conditions and instead put forward its own five preconditions—which include full control over the sovereignty of the Strait of Hormuz.

Last weekend, officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey met in an attempt to find a way out of the conflict, but there is currently no sign that the talks have made substantive progress. After meeting with counterparts from various countries, Pakistan’s foreign minister said, “Both Iran and the United States have said they trust Pakistan and are willing to have Pakistan host the follow-up negotiations.” However, neither side has indicated that it is ready for direct dialogue.
