On the 29th, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported that Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia stated that the core issue between the United States and Iran is not the nuclear issue, but rather Iran’s sovereignty and independence. Akraminia also mentioned that during Obama’s presidency, Iran and the United States reached an agreement on the nuclear issue. However, Trump tore up that agreement during his first presidential term, indicating that he does not abide by any laws or commitments. Akraminia stated that the Strait of Hormuz has always been a passage of safety and peace, but the evil actions of the United States and the “Zionist regime” threaten its security. He also emphasized that the “Greater Israel project” is essentially a divisive activity against regional countries including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria. (Xinhua News Agency)
