Russian Foreign Minister: The escalation of the Middle East situation stems from a few Western countries attempting to maintain their hegemonic position

On the 24th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that the escalation of the situation in the Middle East directly stems from the attempts of a few Western countries to maintain their remaining hegemonic status through force. Lavrov said at a foundation council meeting held in Moscow that U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran would disrupt world trade, threaten global energy security, and affect international transportation and commercial exchanges. Lavrov also stated that Russia is conveying its assessment of the current situation to Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The Russian side believes that negotiations and reaching agreements on the premise of achieving a balance of interests are in the best interests of the countries in the Middle East. (Xinhua)
