Asia-Pacific stocks trend | Japan and South Korea markets fell more than 5% in early trading

Fighting in the Middle East continues. Iran describes as extremely extreme the advice the United States has given to Iran. Oil prices rise again, and stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region fall in the early trading session.

Japanese stocks fell. The Nikkei Average opened lower and then moved down, at one point slipping below the 51,000-point level. It dropped as much as 2,806 points, or 5.26%, to a low of 50,566 points. Latest: 51,016 points, down 2,356 points, or 4.41%.

South Korean stocks also fell by more than 5% at one point. The KOSPI Composite in Seoul fell as much as 287 points, or 5.29%, to a low of 5,151 points. Latest: 5,252 points, down 185 points, or 3.42%.

Taiwan stocks were under pressure. Taiwan Weighted Index latest: 32,520 points, down 591 points, or 1.79%.

Australian stocks declined. Australia All Ordinaries latest: 8,606 points, down 106 points, or 1.23%.
