US Media: White House Indicates Time Needed for Agreement with Iran, Fighting May Last 2-4 More Weeks
On March 30, CBS News reported that two sources familiar with the situation revealed that the White House privately informed allies that it would take time for the U.S. to reach a diplomatic agreement with Iran. They also added that the U.S. estimates that the intense actions of the war itself will continue for another two to four weeks. The sources close to Iranian officials indicated that Tehran believes diplomatic negotiations require time. These sources stated that Iran is skeptical about the U.S.'s interest in reaching an agreement and believes that high energy prices provide favorable conditions for Iran. Additionally, the two sources noted that Iran is also skeptical about the joint timeline proposed by the U.S. and Israel for ending the fighting. The Israel Defense Forces had previously stated that they expect the fighting to continue until Passover, which is in the first week of April.
