Air China North Korea-China passenger flights resume operation

Xinhua News Agency reported that a passenger aircraft operated by China International Airlines, flying from Beijing to North Korea’s capital Pyongyang, arrived at Pyongyang Sunan International Airport this morning. The passenger service between China and North Korea has officially resumed.

Diplomats from the embassy in North Korea, including Wang Yajun, Chinese Ambassador to North Korea, met the airport to welcome passengers traveling to North Korea on the flight.

The China International Airlines route from Beijing to Pyongyang was suspended starting in January 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures; this is the first resumption after 6 years. Air Koryo of North Korea restarted the Pyongyang-to-Beijing route in August 2023.
