Alibaba Qwen's head announces departure, affiliated company reveals details
In January this year, the company previously experienced changes in its legal representative and directors
Recently, Qwen’s head Lin Junyang announced that he would leave the Qwen team, sparking heated discussion. Earlier, news that some other key personnel at Qwen had been leaving one after another had also already spread widely across the industry.
Tianyancha business registration information shows that Qwen is associated with Shanghai Zhixin Puhui Technology Co., Ltd., which was established in February 2025. The registered capital is RMB 50 million. Its business scope includes AI general application systems, AI application software development, software development, data processing services, and more.
The shareholder information shows that the company is wholly owned by Guangzhou Dayu Kuaile Information Technology Co., Ltd. The change record information indicates that in January this year, the company previously underwent changes in its legal representative and directors.
According to media reports, Lin Junyang’s departure may be directly related to a restructuring of the Qwen team’s organization. The Tongyi Laboratory where he works plans to split the Qwen team—moving from the original “vertically integrated” unified team into horizontally specialized teams such as pre-training, post-training, text, and multimodal—so that the management structure and scope will shrink significantly.
It is worth noting that, in addition to Lin Junyang, Yu Bowen, the head of post-training at Qwen, has also been reported to have officially left.
Public information shows that Lin Junyang was born in 1993. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in linguistics from Peking University. In 2019, he joined Alibaba DAMO Academy. In 2025, at age 32, Lin Junyang became one of Alibaba’s youngest experts at the P10 level.
