Iran’s President Pezeshkian said on March 31 that Iran has the “necessary willingness” to end the war, provided the other side meets Iran’s demands, especially by making the necessary assurances that it will no longer invade.

According to Iran’s Guangming News Agency, Pezeshkian said that day in a telephone call with the President of the European Council Costa that the solution to normalize the situation is to stop the United States and Israel’s aggressive attacks. He reiterated that Iran has not sought to raise tensions or go to war at any stage, and that it “has the necessary willingness to end this war.”

Pezeshkian pointed out that Iran entered negotiations with the United States with sincerity and a constructive attitude, only to be subjected to an unlawful attack midway through the talks. This issue shows that the United States does not believe in diplomacy, but is merely “seeking to issue orders to realize its greedy intentions.”

Pezeshkian also said, “We respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries and have no intention to attack them. But unfortunately, the United States has stationed military bases in these countries, and from the territory of these countries it launches attacks against us. These countries have failed to fulfill their international responsibilities to prevent their own territory from being used to attack Iran.”

The report said that Costa emphasized in the call the necessity of stopping the fighting and tensions on the ground. He said that European countries would never support such aggression against Iran and believed that this violates international law and international rules.

Trump says he will end Iran’s war within “two to three weeks,” and that he is “not responsible” for the Strait of Hormuz

On March 31, U.S. President Trump, when signing an executive order at the White House, told the media that the United States may end its military actions against Iran within two to three weeks.

“We’re going to be leaving pretty soon,” Trump said. “I think about two to three weeks. We’re going to leave because we have no reason to keep doing this.”

Trump said he has only one goal: that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, “and that goal has already been achieved.” U.S. forces are completing the final tasks. “I think it could be within two weeks—maybe a few more days after that.”

Trump also said that if an agreement is reached with Iran, the war might be ended even earlier. But even if the United States does not reach an agreement with Iran, it can still end the war: “If they’re willing to sit down and talk, that’s great. But whether they come or not doesn’t matter.”

Regarding restoring commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that the United States does not need to be responsible for the Strait. “We have nothing to do with that.” “That is the responsibility of all the countries that need to use this strait.”
