On March 27, 2026, at the request of Iran, China, and Cuba, the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held an emergency debate on the attack on Minab Primary School in Iran. Ambassador Jia Qide, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, attended and articulated China’s position. Ambassador Jia Qide stated that in the attack on Minab Primary School in Iran, the lives of 168 young girls were violently taken; this atrocity has crossed the bottom line of human conscience, represents the gravest violation of human rights, and openly disrespects international humanitarian law. China is deeply shocked and strongly condemns it, sharing the profound grief of the victims’ families. Ambassador Jia pointed out that the United States and Israel, without authorization from the Security Council, brazenly launched attacks on Iran—this is the root cause of the tragedy. Not only did the U.S. and Israel kill Iranian leaders and severely violate the human rights of the Iranian people, but they also triggered an escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, forcing regional countries to become involved. The sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of all countries should be fully respected. China strongly condemns all actions that violate international law and conduct indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military targets. Ambassador Jia emphasized that all hotspot issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations rather than the use of force. All parties should seize every peaceful opportunity and window, sincerely initiate and advance the peace talks, and take concrete actions to protect the basic human rights of the people in the region, thereby maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.
