U.S. Customs says the new system for tariff refunds is underway; processing time may take up to 45 days.

People’s Finance and News, April 1—Local time on March 31, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency said it is moving forward with a new duty refund system to refund duties that have been ruled to have been unlawfully collected. However, the time to review and process a single application may be as long as 45 days. In filings submitted to the U.S. International Trade Court, the agency said the new system has currently been completed by about 60% to 85%, and applications will be opened in phases, with priority given to import records that have recently cleared customs or are in a review status.
