Thai Prime Minister: Will crack down hard on oil smuggling and hoarding activities

Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said Friday that Thai authorities will investigate oil smuggling and hoarding activities. At a press conference, Anutin said that violators will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. He said the government is stepping up its crackdown efforts to curb hoarding and profiteering, as well as the smuggling of fuel to neighboring countries. Anutin said that these activities are among the causes of the recent domestic fuel shortage. At the press conference, police said the investigation found that fuel stations along the Myanmar border were hoarding and smuggling fuel.
