Coin World Network, April 3—French President Emmanuel Macron believes that once the conflict between the U.S. and Iran cools down, France and South Korea have room to cooperate in stabilizing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Macron said on Friday, after meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul, “We discussed the situation in the Middle East in depth. I believe that once the bombing stops, we can take constructive actions to stabilize the situation in the strait and in broader areas. We hope to strengthen our links on strategic and defense matters.” At a joint press conference, the two leaders did not reveal specific details of the cooperation. Yoon Suk Yeol said both sides agreed to share policy experience and strategy and to jointly address the economic and energy crises triggered by the war in the Middle East. In addition, the two countries also signed a series of memorandums, pledging to strengthen cooperation in areas including nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, chips, and critical mineral supply chains, and setting a target for bilateral trade to reach $20 billion by 2030. Macron also invited South Korea to participate in this year’s G7 summit, hosted by France in June.
