SLR Investment Corp. was incorporated in Maryland on November 2007 as a closed-end, externally managed, diversified investment company, and was selected as an enterprise development company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. In addition, for tax purposes, the company has been selected as a regulated investment company under Subchapter M of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The company primarily invests in middle-market companies in the U.S. Midwest, because it believes that the primary sources of capital and investment opportunities are most attractive there. The company’s investment objective is to generate current income and capital appreciation through debt and equity investments. The company’s investments are primarily in leveraged middle-market companies in the form of senior secured loans, mezzanine loans, and equity securities. Sometimes, the company will invest in publicly traded companies with low trading volume. The company’s business model is mainly focused on making investments through portfolio companies or investment origination sponsored by its financial sponsors.
