IT Home reports on March 12 that technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (March 11), saying that at the 2026 World Mobile Communications Conference (MWC), a Google executive, Dieter Bohn, showcased a prototype of the Android XR smart glasses.

IT Home has included the related video as follows:

In terms of core interaction, Dieter Bohn demonstrated that the Android XR smart glasses prototype supports real-time cross-language translation and smooth video calling.

The glasses feature a single display and are deeply integrated with Google’s latest Gemini 3 multimodal large model, giving the glasses outstanding visual understanding capabilities. Users can engage in deep interaction with their surroundings through simple voice commands.

A major highlight of this demonstration is visual navigation. Dieter Bohn showcased on-site the “look-to-navigate” feature: when he looked at a poster printed with a soccer stadium and asked for a walking route, Gemini quickly identified the destination and projected navigation arrows directly into his lens field of view. After the user looked down and examined it, the system would also automatically bring up a detailed map.

In addition to navigation, the glasses also perform well in multimedia processing and AI creation. They can accurately recognize music album covers and link with YouTube Music to play related tracks.

In image processing, the glasses integrate the Nano Banana technology. After users take photos at the scene, they can instruct the AI to “reconstruct” the photos—for example, replacing ordinary buildings in the background with Barcelona’s famous Sagrada Família cathedral.

Regarding the product’s final form, Dieter Bohn clearly stated that what is being shown is currently only a prototype unit. For vision correction needs, the prototype unit uses a clip-on myopia lens solution during the MWC demonstration, but he emphasized that this design will not appear in the final mass-produced version.
