On March 25, 2026, Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during his visit to China. Liu Bin said that China supports the IAEA in playing its due role in improving global governance in the nuclear field, and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the IAEA, enhance the level of international cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, build a community with a shared future for nuclear safety, and jointly uphold the international nuclear non-proliferation regime. Grossi expressed appreciation for China’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, highly recognized China’s leading role in the fields of nuclear energy and nuclear technology applications, and said that the IAEA is willing to deepen cooperation with China to jointly safeguard the global nuclear order and promote international peace and security.
