Chinese Government Middle East Issue Special Envoy Zhai Jun Meets Collectively with the Ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council Countries in China

March 25, 2026, China’s government’s Special Envoy for Middle East Issues, Zhai Jun, met collectively with the resident ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in China. Zhai Jun said that the fighting at present is seriously endangering security and stability in the Middle East region. China attaches importance to the GCC side’s reasonable security concerns, understands and supports the efforts of the GCC countries to safeguard their own sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and is willing to continue to maintain close communication with the GCC side and make unremitting efforts to help cool down the situation. The ambassadors of the GCC countries in China briefed their views on the current situation and said they expect China to play a greater role in helping the region restore peace and stability as soon as possible.
