Dmail Network announces it will gradually cease all services starting May 15
Decentralized email project Dmail Network has issued a notice stating that all services will be gradually discontinued beginning May 15, 2026. The team explained that the reasons for shutdown include high bandwidth, storage, and computing costs of decentralized infrastructure, which grow exponentially with user base; multiple attempts at paid models and commercialization paths have failed to find sustainable profit scenarios; the token has not achieved large-scale practical use cases, and the economic model cannot be closed-looped; the crypto market's sudden downturn led to strategic misjudgments, with core team members gradually leaving; additionally, multiple funding rounds failed, acquisition negotiations fell through, and funds are nearly exhausted. The team reminds users to export their emails and close their accounts before May 15, as all nodes will cease operation and emails will no longer be accessible.
Seeing this news first was shocking—didn’t expect another good project with users to not survive the winter. This is the cruel reality of a bear market: projects that do real work have to shut down due to lack of ongoing funding, while those that come with whitepapers and hype in the crypto circle often make huge profits. This also serves as a reminder that crypto startups must carefully balance geek spirit with practical profitability from the start. After all, in most Web3 projects that rely solely on token sales without large-scale real-world applications, creating a project that is both innovative and “self-sustaining” is extremely difficult.
Friends, do you still remember those emails you sent with Dmail back in the day? Leave a message and chat!
