People’s Finance News, April 1 — Starting today (April 1), a 30-day spring concentrated maintenance project will begin on China’s major energy corridor, the Datong–Qinhuangdao Railway. The work will restore the performance of line equipment under the high-load operations used to ensure the supply of coal for winter heating, laying the groundwork for energy transport during the peak summer demand period. The Datong–Qinhuangdao Railway is a main corridor for moving coal from western China to eastern China, transporting about 400 million tons of coal annually. It carries the task of ensuring coal supply for major power grids and power generation companies, steel companies, and more than 300 major power plants and over 6,000 enterprises nationwide. Its user base covers 26 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions. During this concentrated maintenance period, the Datong–Qinhuangdao Railway will suspend all train services across the entire line daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for three hours, conducting three-dimensional inspection, maintenance, and upgrade of line components such as steel rails, track ties, turnouts, track ballast, as well as the power supply overhead contact network, signal equipment, and communications fiber-optic cables. In addition, the China Railway Taiyuan Bureau coordinates departments including transportation, dispatching, and locomotive operations, optimizes transportation plans, and refines transportation organization to ensure coordinated progress between Datong–Qinhuangdao Railway operations and construction. Through measures such as improving the quality of daytime shift plans, strengthening loading and unloading organization, and speeding up locomotive and rolling-stock turnaround, it will ensure that daily freight volume during the concentrated maintenance period on the Datong–Qinhuangdao Railway reaches 1 million tons.
