【AI+ Chips】Domestic Chips Make a Major Comeback! China's AI GPU Market Share Reaches 41%, Huawei Becomes the Biggest Winner, NVIDIA Drops to 55%
Benefiting from China’s active push to use domestically made chips, Mainland semiconductor companies last year saw their market share in China’s AI GPU market rise sharply to 41%. At the same time, the U.S. chip giant Nvidia (U.S.: NVDA) saw its market share fall to 55%, the largest drop since the U.S. implemented export controls.
Before U.S. chip sanctions were put in place, Nvidia originally held an absolute dominant position in the Chinese market, with a market share of about 95%. After the sanctions, its market share contracted significantly, and its 2025 shipment volume was about 2.2 million chips.
By contrast, with strong subsidies and support from the Chinese government, Mainland semiconductor companies delivered a total of 1.65 million AI GPUs last year, bringing total shipments to 4 million chips.
Among China’s semiconductor companies, Huawei emerged as the biggest winner: its AI GPU shipments totaled 812k units, with a market share approaching 20%. Alibaba (09988)旗下平头哥 ranked third with shipment volume of 256k units.
