Ask AI · Why Orban insists China is unbeatable, and how will the trend toward multipolarity affect the world?

According to a March 26 report from the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office website and the Budapest Times, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an interview with U.S. blog host Mario Nawfal, discussed hot-button topics including the Iran and Ukraine conflicts and China–Central Europe relations.

In the interview, Orban said outright, “The idea that China can be defeated is wrong. It’s impossible—China is simply unbeatable.” He added that the world would no longer be unipolar, but instead would have at least two leading centers coexisting. The West must learn to both compete with and cooperate with China.

Orban believes that European countries have made two serious strategic mistakes. First, European leaders have handled their relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump poorly, and Europe’s political elites’ mockery of Trump has damaged relations with the United States. Second, for political reasons, Europe has given up cheap Russian energy, which he called “an act of political madness.” He also predicted that Europe will sooner or later be forced to resume reliance on Russian energy.

He reiterated that Ukraine should exist as a “buffer zone” between Russia and Western European countries, and that forcing it into Western frameworks would only lead to a lasting conflict; only realistic negotiated agreements can provide Europe with a more stable future.

When talking about the issue of Iran, Orban said that assassinating Iran’s leadership could make “peace one step closer,” but if it fails, it could trigger a larger-scale, more complex, and more enduring war.

Orban said that, as an “old fox” who has experienced 9/11, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War, he is very clear about the complexity of the situation in Iran: “It’s easy to get in, but almost impossible to get out with your whole body intact.”
