BMW Brilliance and BMW (China) recall some domestically produced and imported BMW vehicles
News report (by Xu Jianhua). Recently, Brilliance BMW Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Brilliance BMW Automotive Co., Ltd., effective immediately, will recall certain domestically produced 5 Series vehicles with production dates from December 5, 2023, to April 12, 2025, totaling 133,849 units.
BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., effective immediately, will recall certain imported 5 Series vehicles with production dates from October 17, 2023, to April 8, 2025, totaling 8,978 units; imported 7 Series vehicles with production dates from June 9, 2022, to April 3, 2025, totaling 36,527 units; and imported M5 vehicles with production dates from July 4, 2024, to April 2, 2025, totaling 173 units.
For the vehicles within this recall scope, due to improper routing of the front cabin air-conditioning wiring harness cable connections, when replacing the air filter element during after-sales service, it may cause damage to the front cabin air-conditioning wiring harness; in extreme cases, a short circuit may occur, creating a fire risk.
Brilliance BMW Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will, free of charge, inspect the front cabin air-conditioning wiring harnesses for vehicles within the recall scope and re-secure them; if any damage is found, they will replace the parts. Since some vehicles have already completed repairs previously, this recall does not require these vehicles to be repaired again. Relevant users will be notified in forms such as registered letters and connected-driving messages.
