Azerbaijan claims to have been attacked by an "terrorist attack" launched by Iran
Azerbaijani President Aliyev convened a meeting of the Security Council on the 5th. Aliyev said at the meeting that Iran used drones to carry out a terrorist attack against Azerbaijan, and that he had ordered the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to formulate and implement retaliatory measures. Aliyev said that the Iranian authorities must provide an explanation to Azerbaijan and must apologize.
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 5th local time, the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces released a statement denying that Iran had launched drones toward Azerbaijan. The statement emphasized that Iran respects all countries and accused Israel of attempting to frame Iran by using a similar approach.
On the 5th, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that on that day, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan was attacked by drones originating from within Iran, resulting in 2 people being injured. The Azerbaijani side strongly condemned it. (CCTV News)
