Trump says the second crew member of the shot-down fighter jet is "seriously injured"
Xinhua News Agency, Washington, April 5—On April 5, U.S. President Trump posted on social media, disclosing more details about the second crew member on the F-15E fighter that was shot down in Iran, saying that he was “severely injured.”
Trump said that U.S. forces rescued this crew member from deep in Iran’s mountains. This was the second crew member rescued; he is a colonel and is severely injured. At the time, Iran was conducting a large-scale manhunt for him. “The rescue operation for the first crew member (that is, the pilot) was carried out during the day, when U.S. aircraft were flying over Iran for 7 hours.” He also said that a press conference would be held at 13:00 on the 6th in the White House Oval Office together with the military.
Previously, Trump said that the U.S. military had been monitoring the location of the second crew member and had “carefully planned a rescue operation.” Following his orders, the U.S. military deployed dozens of “aircraft and helicopters carrying the world’s most deadly weapons” to carry out the rescue. “He (the crew member) was injured, but he will recover.” Also, according to a report by The New York Times on the 5th, the second crew member had been sent to Kuwait for treatment.
