Just looked at Pakistan's currency history and wow, the depreciation story is wild 😅 The dollar rate in year 2001 in pakistan was around 63.50 PKR, which honestly doesn't sound bad compared to what happened later.

Like, think about it - from 1947 to the early 2000s, the rupee held relatively steady. Then things started shifting. By 2008 when the global financial crisis hit, it jumped to 81 PKR. That's when people started really feeling the pressure.

But the crazy part? 2019 onwards. The dollar rate in pakistan just kept climbing - 163, then 168, then suddenly 240 in 2022. I remember that period, everyone was talking about it. By 2023 it hit 286, and now we're sitting at 277 in 2024.

So basically, what cost 3.31 rupees back in 1947 costs nearly 277 today. Over 75 years, that's the real inflation story nobody talks about. The year 2001 rates seem almost quaint now when you see the current trajectory.
