Pang Donglai issues a statement again regarding the detection of lutein in the fresh eggs sold.
April 5, PDDonglai released a statement saying that recently, “Wang Hai Reviews” has posted related content across various online platforms claiming that PDDonglai’s sale of fresh chicken eggs has “excessive lutein.” The company’s investigation findings are as follows:
After paying attention to the relevant videos published by “Wang Hai Reviews,” PDDonglai immediately formed an investigation team to investigate the incident. To ensure the data is accurate and rigorous, PDDonglai will send fresh chicken eggs from brands including Zhengda, Deqingyuan, Yejiming, Huangtiange, and Shengdile, which are currently on sale, to three testing institutions—Mérieux NutriSciences Testing Technology Co., Ltd., SGS-Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., and China Inspection & Testing Technology Co., Ltd.—for separate testing. Since there are many testing items, there are about 150 testing reports in total. All testing was completed by April 3. The key indicators tested included heavy metals, veterinary drug residues, additives, and microorganisms in fresh chicken eggs. All test results were compliant, meeting the product implementation standards as well as the requirements of GB/T39438-2020 “Packaged Eggs” and GB2749-2015 “National Food Safety Standard for Eggs and Egg Products.” At the same time, PDDonglai also tested the lutein content in the fresh chicken eggs. Because there is currently no corresponding national standard to serve as a basis for judgment, the test values are provided only for reference.
