OPEC Warns High Costs and Long Repairs for Energy Facilities Will Impact Crude Oil Supply
On April 5, Reuters reported that during a committee meeting held by OPEC+ on Sunday, concerns were raised regarding the attacks on energy assets amid the war between the U.S. and Iran, stating that the costs and time required for repairing the relevant facilities would affect supply. The statement emphasized, “The committee highlights the critical importance of ensuring the safety of international maritime routes to guarantee the uninterrupted flow of energy. The committee expressed concern over the attacks on energy infrastructure, noting that restoring damaged energy assets to full operational capacity is both costly and time-consuming, thereby impacting overall supply capability.” According to PolyBeats monitoring, the probability of WTI crude oil closing above $130 per day in April has risen to 51%, while the probability of it closing above $120 has increased to 80%.
