The Central Bank of Brazil has revealed its next steps for further improving and developing Pix — the widely used instant payment system utilized by almost all adult residents of the country. According to local media, the Central Bank plans to launch International Pix — a standard feature that will allow individuals and companies to make cross-border payments and money transfers using the Pix network. Although Pix is already available internationally in Argentina, the USA, and Portugal, this new initiative will make it permanent, connecting national instant payment systems and simplifying settlements. Pix already serves over 175 million users in Brazil and, since its launch in November 2020, has facilitated nearly 200 billion transactions. #GateSquareAprilPostingChallenge
