On March 30 local time, the foreign ministries of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s continued restrictions on the freedom of religious activities in Jerusalem, including preventing Muslims from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque for worship and preventing Christian religious figures from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to hold religious rites. The statement said that Israel’s relevant practices seriously violate international law and the existing historical and legal status quo, and infringe believers’ right to enter religious places. The countries emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and must stop all measures restricting religious activities. The statement called on Israel to immediately stop the related restriction measures and urged the international community to take action to stop Israel’s violations against the religious holy sites in Jerusalem.
