Hong Kong TVB plans to change its name: Television Broadcasts Limited will be renamed Wireless Group Limited
Ask AI · How should TVB’s renaming reflect its strategic shift from traditional television to diversified media?
According to a report from Hong Kong’s Wireless News, on March 25, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) announced that, to more accurately reflect the group’s multi-platform and diversified business layout aligned with global media market development trends, the board of directors recommended changing the company’s English name from “Television Broadcasts Limited” to “TVB Limited,” and changing its Chinese name from “Wireless Group Limited” to “Wireless Group Limited.” The move is intended to tightly integrate the group’s legal entity name with the globally renowned “TVB” and “Wireless” brands.
TVB said that, since it launched in 1967, it has evolved from an original single television production and broadcasting organization into today’s most important multi-platform entertainment and media group in Hong Kong. The group is not only a globally leading creator of Chinese-language content, but also the cradle of Hong Kong’s entertainment and media industries and the technological core.
Public information shows that TVB is one of the world’s largest Chinese-language commercial program production companies. Its headquarters are in Hong Kong, China. It is also one of the few broadcasting companies in the world that operates a vertically integrated commercial business model covering content creation, broadcasting, and distribution. TVB has about 3,500 employees across Hong Kong and overseas, including more than 500 artists. TVB operates terrestrial television broadcasting platforms, the streaming services myTV SUPER and TVB Anywhere, social media platforms, and e-commerce platforms such as NeighborBuy.
