Le Parisien: Goldman Sachs' Paris headquarters received a bomb threat believed to be from an Iranian group
According to reports, Goldman Sachs’ Paris headquarters was placed under police surveillance Wednesday night, following a bomb threat believed to be from an Iranian group.
According to this French newspaper, U.S. authorities have contacted the bank, advising it to remain vigilant. An informed source said that an Iranian group threatened to use explosive devices to attack the office building.
The Paris prosecutor’s office stated in an email on Thursday that no suspicious items were found at the scene.
Just a few days ago, French authorities thwarted an attempted bomb attack near the U.S. bank’s Paris office location. French authorities have charged and detained one adult and three minors aged 16 to 17 in connection with the incident.
A Goldman Sachs spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. An official from the Paris police department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to a knowledgeable source, employees at Goldman Sachs’ Paris office were permitted to work from home on Thursday. Other banks have taken similar measures. A Citigroup spokesperson said that as a precaution, employees in Paris and Frankfurt will work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
French President Emmanuel Macron, currently visiting Seoul, stated that authorities remain vigilant against potential terrorist threats to “reassure everyone who might be targeted in France and elsewhere.”
