Lately I always feel like on-chain data is "getting stuck" for a moment, it's not my internet connection being bad, it's the middlemen like indexers/Subgraph/RPC catching their breath... When you see the page spinning, it might actually be that the node is rate-limited, or the index hasn't finished digesting the new blocks yet. Basically, it's like listening to a radio; when the signal is weak, you hear a crackling sound, the song is still playing, but you have to wait for it to tune in properly.
What's even more annoying is that when the message propagation chain stacks up, a phrase like "On-chain shows XX" in the group chat is taken as real-time data, but it might just be delayed echoes. Recently, there's been a lot of noise about NFT royalties; when the secondary market gets active, the request volume also skyrockets. Creators and liquidity argue, but the underlying services are getting overwhelmed first—it's quite real... Anyway, I now assume data is always a bit slow, so I try to worry less.
