Trump issues a tough warning: If Powell doesn't step down, he'll be fired!

Federal Reserve Chair Powell responds firmly: We'll talk after the investigation.
Trump has struck again! This time targeting Fed Chair Powell.
On April 15, Old Trump directly declared: If Powell doesn't voluntarily step down after the new chair takes office,
"Then I will have to fire him!"
Powell's term as chair expires on May 15.
Trump's nominee to succeed him, Waller, hasn't yet passed the Senate confirmation.
Powell stated: Continue to serve legally until the successor is confirmed.
Bold move!
Even more intense, the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the Fed's headquarters renovation project.
Trump seized the opportunity to add: "There might be corruption or serious mismanagement involved."
He criticizes Powell for not listening and cutting rates, using the project costs as an excuse.
How does Powell respond?
He won't resign before the investigation concludes!
"I will serve until the day the results are fully transparent."
At this moment, Treasury Secretary Yellen steps in to smooth things over:
I understand the Fed is waiting for the right moment to cut rates, and it will happen eventually.
Core inflation is decreasing, gasoline prices are also dropping, so gas stations, be aware!
On one side, the president threatens to fire, on the other, the chair stands firm, with a judicial investigation in between.
Can the Fed's independence withstand this pressure?
Will Powell really be "fired" by Trump?
