Iran Commits to Ensuring Unimpeded Passage for Russian Vessels Through the Strait of Hormuz

On April 21, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 20th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian. The Iranian side informed the Russian side of its position on three issues: the U.S. violation of the ceasefire, the illegal maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and the seizure of Iranian container ships. Iran confirmed that it would do its utmost to ensure that Russian vessels and cargo pass through the Strait of Hormuz without obstruction. The Russian side emphasized the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire, which should be respected within the parameters initially coordinated and announced by the mediator, Pakistan.
