I just saw something interesting about Bitcoin security that’s worth commenting on. A researcher recently proposed a method to make Bitcoin transactions resistant to quantum attacks without the network needing to undergo a major fork.

The truth is that the quantum threat to Bitcoin is still more theoretical than real at this point, but what catches my attention is that companies like Google and Cloudflare are already taking steps. Both have set clear goals to complete their post-quantum migration before 2029, so the issue isn’t as distant as many think.

What’s interesting about the method proposed by this researcher is that it could be implemented in Bitcoin without the need for a hard fork, meaning the network could adapt more flexibly. This is important because fundamental changes to Bitcoin require consensus and time, so any solution that avoids a fork is more practical.

The outlook is clear: while quantum technology continues to develop, major players in the space are already preparing. For Bitcoin, which is the most critical asset in the entire industry, these innovations in quantum resistance will be crucial in the coming years. It’s one of those topics that will likely gain more relevance as we approach 2029.
