As of the time of publication, the Jiangsu market’s polyester staple fiber spot price estimate has fallen by 10 to 8,080; despite weaker downstream performance, some textile mills have plans to reduce or halt production during the May Day holiday, but upstream PX supply is tight, leading to increased PTA plant maintenance, which provides overall cost support. Short fiber has some support under low processing fees; currently, the spot market negotiation reference for short fiber is 8,050-8,150 yuan/ton, with a lower bias around 7,950.
