These past couple of days, I casually tried out Mr. Wu's BIT (formerly called Matrixport, now unified under the BIT brand), their new US stock entry.

A more straightforward aspect is that it saves effort—no need to fuss over offshore procedures or card applications; mainland Chinese IDs can be used directly, and it can be set up in just a few minutes.
The funding process is also familiar—just transfer U funds in, and you can start using it. The onboarding cost is not high.
