I realize that by 2025, completing tasks through photos will become truly feasible. Neural networks are now very skilled at recognizing handwritten text, formulas, and complex images, allowing step-by-step solutions in seconds. Smartphones have transformed into active 24-hour learning assistants.

I’ve tried several popular services, and here are my observations. Photomath is a classic. Point the camera at an equation, and instantly you see not only the answer but also all the solving steps. Works with printed text and handwriting. Drawback: only math, and full analysis requires a paid subscription.
Wolfram|Alpha is on a completely different level. It’s not just a solver but a full computational engine. Can create graphs, solve integrals, analyze differential equations. Covers mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics. Yes, photo recognition is only available in the Pro version.
Mathway is similar to Photomath but with its own approach. The interface is easier to understand, works quickly. Also requires a subscription for full analysis. Good at recognizing printed text, but sometimes has issues with handwriting.
Symbolab — this is for more serious tasks. Suitable for college students and high schoolers. Shows each step, has calculators for physics and finance, supports graphs. User-friendly interface, allows manual input of formulas or uploading photos.
MathGPT is interesting because it covers not only mathematics but also physics and chemistry. Free, no registration needed. Solving tasks via photos works well here, although the interface is in English.
Gauth — a more versatile platform. Started with math and physics, now adding biology, economics, languages. Upload a photo of a problem or describe the text — get a complete solution.
BotHub — this is a collection of various neural networks (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude). Convenient because you can switch between models in one place. Free tier with quite good limits, paid plans are very affordable. Suitable for various disciplines.
Nano Banana Pro from Google DeepMind — this is truly a story of its own. It can not only solve problems but also reproduce answers with the same handwriting, create solutions in infographic form. Very good at working with text in images in multiple languages.
Overall, the choice depends on the task. For school math, Photomath, Mathway, and Symbolab are the best. For more serious sciences, (higher-level mathematics, physics, chemistry), Wolfram|Alpha is better. If you need photo-based solutions for various subjects, then MathGPT or Gauth. And if you want something versatile and flexible, just use ChatGPT or Gemini — they can handle almost all disciplines thanks to their broad knowledge.
