On April 2, local time, Iranian President Pezeshkian said during a phone call with Azerbaijani President Aliyev that Iran will defend itself with firm resolve, using all capabilities. Pezeshkian said that Iran was subjected to military strikes by the United States and Israel while negotiating with the United States, and emphasized that Iran will resolutely safeguard national security. The same day, Pezeshkian also held a phone call with Finnish President Alexander Stubb to exchange views on the situation in the region. During the call, Pezeshkian criticized the European Union’s performance on issues related to actions involving the United States and Israel, saying that some European countries’ stances are “negative and even biased.” He also said that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of U.S.-Israel military actions, and stressed that the relevant measures are in accordance with international law. Stubb expressed concern about the current situation, emphasized that the conflict should be de-escalated through diplomatic channels, and said he is willing to provide assistance. (CCTV News)
