Odaily Planet Daily News: On January 7 local time, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that he believes the White House is handling the Greenland issue through diplomatic channels and does not think anyone is discussing using military force against Greenland. Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karolynn Levitt said the Trump team is discussing “a range of options” to acquire Greenland, and called using the U.S. military “always an available option.” Regarding the related statements, Johnson said the U.S. always maintains military options on any issue, but this is only a principled statement. “I think this is a blanket statement. On the Greenland issue, it’s clear that we’re advancing through diplomatic channels,” Johnson said. Johnson also stated he does not think anyone is discussing using military force against Greenland. Johnson said the U.S. always reserves military options on all issues, but on the Greenland issue, “it’s very clear that we are handling this through diplomatic channels.”
