AI-Driven Cyberattacks Surge, Security Industry Enters Emergency Mode
As cyberattacks leveraging artificial intelligence become more frequent, the cybersecurity industry is working hard to defend against them. The situation has changed dramatically compared to last year. At the recent RSA Conference in San Francisco, experts warned about new AI-driven threats.
With the development of AI, malicious actors are using autonomous technology to carry out identity-based attacks and large-scale denial-of-service attacks. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz mentioned the difficulty of responding to these rapid changes in his speech, saying, “We are racing at 200 miles per hour while facing new problems.”
Microsoft’s report revealed that certain North Korean organizations are using AI to generate emails and fake personas to seek jobs in the tech industry, bypassing traditional screening processes. Additionally, Cloudflare’s report pointed out that internal threats are increasing and warned that AI is fueling identity fraud.
Efforts to use AI for defense are also ongoing. Google announced plans to reduce threats through legal actions, product enhancements, and technological responses. Companies like Zscaler are integrating AI into their defense systems to strengthen user activity monitoring. These efforts seem to ultimately pave the way for future strategic directions in the cybersecurity industry.
