Market Orders Now Available on Gate Options

Order and Trading Instructions

Market orders are filled immediately at the best available price in the market.

• Market Buy Order : An order filled at the current best ask price.
• Market Sell Order : An order filled at the current best bid price.

If the order cannot be fully filled at a certain price level, the unfilled portion will be automatically matched with the next available price level until the order is completely filled.

Example : Suppose BTC's best bid is 100,000 USDT and best ask is 100,001 USDT:

• When placing a buy market order, it will be filled at 100,001 USDT.
• If the amount available at that price is not enough to fill your entire buy order, the remaining portion will be filled at higher ask prices until the order is completely filled.

Order Entry Options

1. Click the [Market] tab and switch to the corresponding order zone;
2. Amount input field;
3. Buy/Sell button status: Disabled when one side of the order book is empty. Disabled when the order book price deviates significantly from the mark price. In either case, the button will appear grayed out and will not respond when clicked.

Order History

• Market orders are displayed as "market" in the order price column, rather than a specific price;

Calculation of Execution Price

1. The Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) is calculated based on the order book depth.
2. The VWAP calculation is applied for both buy and sell sides.

is the executed quantity of the i-th trade

is the total number of trades or order book levels

Notes:

1. If the order book suddenly disappears while placing an order, it will be considered a market anomaly or disappearance of the counterparty; the system will indicate that no executable price is available, and the market order will be canceled.
2. If a market order consumes all available depth but still has a remaining unfilled amount, the filled portion will be recorded as Partially Filled, and the remaining unfilled portion will be automatically canceled. The order details will display the actual filled amount and average fill price.
3. If one side of the order book is empty, the Buy/Sell buttons will be grayed out.
4. If the order book price deviates significantly from the mark price (±100% for either direction), the corresponding button will be grayed out.
