The American military may soon receive virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) equipment produced by Meta, in collaboration with defense contractor Anduril. These headset units will utilize Anduril’s Lattice AI command and control system to integrate data from multiple sources, providing real-time battlefield intelligence.

Anduril stated that the goggles will provide soldiers with “enhanced awareness” and “visual control of automated platforms” during missions. This integration will improve situational perception and tactical decision-making in combat.

The project is funded by private capital and aims to repurpose commercial technology for military purposes. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has invested 40 billion USD in VR and AR technology since launching the metaverse in October 2021.
