A person mining through the individual mining service provider Solo CK Pool managed to earn a Bitcoin reward of 3,137. Particularly in this year, this is the latest example of the highly publicized achievements of solo miners, where the miner received more than 350 thousand dollars in rewards.
As is known, the number of individual miners was much higher in the early days of Bitcoin. However, the inclusion of crowds in the system and the increasing difficulty of mining has recently led to almost only large mining companies engaging in this work. This year, one miner found a block in the network on February 11, another on July 4, and another on July 27, and they won the big reward.
Samuel Li, the technology manager at the mining device and equipment company ASICKey, stated that individual mining has now completely turned into a lottery or lottery game:
“Solo or individual mining has now completely turned into a game of chance. I calculate the chance of a user with a standard hash rate finding a block every 10 minutes to be one in 650,000.”
As a reminder, the last reward halving in Bitcoin occurred in April 2024, and the reward per block dropped from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.
The increasing mining difficulty in Bitcoin and the decreasing rewards continue to put pressure on large mining companies. Companies with rising costs and decreasing rewards have recently started renting out their large energy resources to artificial intelligence firms.
