MegaETH announced that its mainnet test version “Frontier” will be officially open to developers next week, marking the entry of this high-performance Ethereum scaling project into its final development stage. According to an update released by the team on December 8, infrastructure deployment has begun, and developers, application testers, and early users will be gradually invited over the coming weeks.

The Frontier testing phase is expected to last for one month and is regarded as MegaETH’s final critical step before public mainnet launch. This round of testing is specifically designed for teams wishing to validate the network’s real-time execution features, such as sub-millisecond latency, in-memory processing, and instant smart contract compilation. The team emphasized that this phase prioritizes “stability first,” contains no incentive activities, and may experience brief downtimes during performance stress testing.

MegaETH stated that the core goal of this testing round is to simulate a near-mainnet real-world environment and to optimize performance bottlenecks based on feedback from developers and ecosystem partners. If all processes proceed as planned, the MegaETH mainnet is expected to officially launch as early as January 2026, fulfilling its two-year vision of creating a “real-time Ethereum.”

The launch of Frontier comes on the heels of a turbulent period for the project in November. After its public debut in mid-November, Frontier was positioned as a crucial milestone supporting over 100,000 transactions per second. In addition, on November 25, the team launched a pre-deposit bridge allowing users to preload USDC in preparation for mainnet launch. However, due to configuration issues, the bridge was suspended immediately after going live. The team subsequently refunded all deposits in full on November 27 and pledged to conduct a comprehensive audit and overhaul of the bridging system before relaunching it—a decision widely recognized by the community.

With the official opening of the test version, Frontier will become MegaETH’s core testing ground for further validating the scalability, security, and developer experience of its high-performance Layer-2 architecture. The results of the next month’s tests will determine whether MegaETH can truly deliver on its promise of real-time execution at the mainnet stage.
