New Year’s Day BROCCOLI714 Surges Over 10 Times, Vida Detects Abnormal Operations, Precise Entry and Exit, and Reverse Shorting, Achieving a Profit of 1 Million USD on the First Day of the New Year.
In the early morning of New Year’s Day 2026, BROCCOLI714 was suspected to have been manipulated by hackers or market makers, resulting in a violent surge of over 10 times with millions of dollars in volume. Vida, founder of Formula News, was alerted by the price surge warning and quickly identified the abnormality through order book observation. He decisively executed a precise strategy of “liquidating hedge positions, waiting for circuit breaker to chase longs, withdrawing orders at high levels to escape the top, and reverse shorting to harvest,” successfully earning a net profit of 1 million USD on the first day of the new year.
CZ’s Dog’s Name Coin Broccoli Prices Abnormally Rise
On February 13, CZ shared on Twitter that his beloved dog’s name is Cauliflower (Broccoli), which instantly caused a frenzy in the cryptocurrency market. Various meme coins named “Broccoli” appeared one after another, with explosive growth on chains like Solana and BNB Smart Chain.
In the early morning of January 1, 2026, Asian time, a market maker account was suspected to have been hacked, with hackers allegedly using 10 to 20 million USD to push the BROCCOLI714-USDT trading pair. Within minutes, the price of Broccoli skyrocketed from 0.014 to 0.16, a 1044% increase.
However, Binance stated that no signs of hacking were found, nor did they receive any reports from institutions or customers.
Formula News Vida Uses Price Alerts and Order Book Monitoring
Vida, founder of Formula News, relied on extremely sharp market intuition and a comprehensive monitoring system. Within just one hour, through a “spot arbitrage + futures chasing + high-level reverse shorting” triple attack, he successfully secured a net profit of 1 million USD on the first day of the new year.
As early as early November 2025, Vida had deployed about 200,000 USD worth of BROCCOLI714 positions at a cost of 0.016 USD, and also held a 500,000 USD Binance fee arbitrage position. Previously, he noticed that these small coins’ market makers often pushed a large bullish candle before starting to sell. Therefore, he set up alerts for “price increase over 30% within 1800 seconds” and “significant price differences between spot and futures,” which successfully woke him up from sleep this time.
Vida said: “My first reaction when I got to the computer was to close the fee arbitrage position, because the original hedge position of 500,000 USD had already surged to a value of 800,000 USD on the spot side. As long as I hedge and close the position, a profit of 300,000 USD can be immediately realized. But I found it extremely abnormal—no normal market maker would ignore the crazy price gap and push the spot price so aggressively.”
By observing the order book, Vida discovered that a coin with a market cap of only 40 million USD had a buy wall of 26 million USD in the spot market. From this, he inferred that it was either a hacker operation or a problem with the market maker’s algorithm. The intention was to push up the spot price to inflate the futures price, thus profiting from the futures market. As long as the buy orders remained, the price would keep rising. Vida attempted to go long but found that Binance had triggered a “reduce-only” circuit breaker protection mechanism.
Vida immediately decided: “Wait for the circuit breaker to end, then aggressively chase longs.” He tried placing orders every 5-10 seconds and eventually added 200,000 USD worth of futures long positions at a cost of 0.046.
Vida’s 1 Million USD Profit on the First Day of the New Year
At 04:20 AM: Hackers temporarily canceled their buy orders. Vida wondered if Binance’s risk control had intervened. To be safe, he started selling all his positions at 04:20:52, regardless of cost. The original accumulated positions and the subsequent chasing positions were liquidated for a total of 1.5 million USD.
However, one minute later, the hackers re-listed buy orders, causing the price to spike to 0.15. Although he missed the final profit margin, Vida remained completely calm. At 04:31, the hackers indeed canceled their orders. Vida opened a 400,000 USD short position on Binance at an entry price of 0.065, which he closed at 0.02.
