Taiwan-listed defense drone manufacturer Thunder Tiger Technology (8033) recently took legal action against a video published on the YouTube channel “Cheap,” accusing the video of sensational headlines and false information that imply the company is a financial tool used by specific shareholders. The company claims this has severely damaged its reputation and shareholder interests. In response, Cheap posted on PTT Stock board and personal social platforms, emphasizing that the content of the video is based on public information and has officially appointed lawyers to respond.

Thunder Tiger Technology: Maliciously Implying and Denying Defense Achievements

On January 12, Thunder Tiger Technology issued a major announcement stating that the recent videos uploaded by Cheap contain insinuations and comments about Thunder Tiger Technology and related companies, including terms like “arbitrage tool” and “hype,” which the company believes are inconsistent with facts.

Thunder Tiger emphasized that it is a legitimate publicly listed company, with all operational funds and equity transactions supervised by regulatory authorities. It has never been involved in alleged “personal pre-purchase followed by company takeover” profit transfer behaviors. In recent years, the company has invested heavily in developing military and commercial drones and unmanned boat technologies in line with the government’s “UAV National Team” policy. Several products have passed Ministry of National Defense testing, and these achievements should not be defamed.

Regarding the video’s mention of financial performance and losses, Thunder Tiger pointed out that all related financial information has been publicly disclosed in accordance with the law. The use of terms like “years of losses” and “failed for decades” may mislead investors and even disrupt market order. The company’s legal department has completed evidence collection and will file criminal charges for aggravated defamation and violations of the Securities and Exchange Act, while reserving civil claims.

Cheap Responds: Outcome-Based Comments, Not Accusations of Illegality

In response to the lawsuit, YouTuber Cheap posted on PTT Stock board, criticizing the company’s statement as evasive and rebutting each point.

Cheap stated that the comments on mergers and acquisitions, capital increase methods, and operational performance in the video are analyses based on outcomes and perceptions, not accusations of illegal activity. For example, the video mentions that Guo Piao Financial Holdings’ past acquisition failed, resulting in missed opportunities for growth. The subsequent legal rulings deemed the procedures lawful, and such information can be verified through news reports and court judgments.

Regarding the question of “why major shareholders did not increase capital with cash but instead injected funds through capital reduction via subsidiaries,” Cheap explained that this is the core issue discussed in the video and constitutes a reasonable critique of corporate governance and financial structure, not a legal violation.

Additionally, Cheap clarified that the video mainly discusses Thunder Tiger Biotech and related investment cases, without negatively evaluating Thunder Tiger Technology’s core business. It even mentions that Thunder Tiger Technology benefited from defense industry themes, with impressive stock performance.

Appointed Former Prosecutor Lawyer to Respond, Cheap: See You in Court

Cheap later posted on Facebook that it has officially appointed former prosecutor and director of Chih Ho International Law Firm, Lawyer Song Chonghe, to handle the related litigation. He emphasized that the data on capital increases, mergers, and performance cited in the video come from public financial reports, major announcements, news reports, and court rulings. The operations of listed companies are inherently subject to public scrutiny.

Cheap stated that freedom of speech and public interest should not be silenced by legal notices. It will actively respond in court and fully explain the basis and reasonableness of the video content during judicial proceedings.
